Party Under the Billboard

The event gave people the opportunity to physically experience the imposing architectural presence of the metal sign and to see something up close that they usually see only at a distance—and from a car going 70 mph. A party shuttle ferried people from downtown Columbia to the sign location in Hatton, Missouri, 15 miles down the interstate at the edge of a soybean field and family farm-equipment business. From about 4 p.m. until dusk, we enjoyed refreshments and lawn games (and kids hunted for blue glass by the side of the access road). The project thanks the Hansens for their generous accommodation of Sign Show activities on their property.
